Guest House Manager at Child Hope International

Job Description:

The key responsibility of the Guest House Manager is to ensure the smooth functioning of Child Hope International’s Port-au-Prince Lighthouse Guest House, including managing guest house staff, making sure visitors needs are being met and that guests leave with a pleasant and memorable experience. The Guest House Manager reports to the Directors of Child Hope.

Tasks

• Oversee all Guest House and Gift Shop staff including Gift Shop salespersons and buyers, security guards, caretaker, cooks, laundresses, head housekeeper and cleaning crews
• Welcome all visitors and teams
• Team Orientation, review Code of Conduct and conduct mission tours with guests, in conjunction with Teams Project Manager
• Make sure teams are comfortable and that basic needs are met
• Insure guests are promptly met at the airport and welcomed in a fashion that sets them at ease and feel secure
• Manage Kitchen staff
• Menu planning
• Insure adequate food supplies are maintained for all guest meals
• Supervise head housekeeper and cleaning crews.
• Manage weekly cleaning to insure a high standard.
• Oversee laundry and laundress needs
• Maintain and monitor adequate supply of linens and towels
• Manage Gift Shop staff and operations
• Manage guest house caretaker
• Make sure guest house facilities are properly operating at all times, including all plumbing, electrical, air conditioners, structural and grounds areas

Job Qualifications:

Qualifications
• At least 5 years of related hospitality management work experience.
• Advanced fluency in English and French.

• Good people skills, ability to manage staff and guests with a firm but cheerful spirit
• Ability to serve others with humility and grace
• Skilled at problem solving
• Must love neatness and order, but be willing to be flexible and love people more
