Responsibilities and Duties
Effectively communicate YUNUS SOCIAL BUSINESS HAITI mission, vision core values and strategic direction to our partner schools and stakeholders;
Working closely with our partner school staff and community leaders in planning and implementation;
Assist in developing a holistic community analysis that integrates education, healthcare, sanitation, agro-forestry, capital improvements, social business, micro-credit, transportation, sustainability, technology, innovation, etc…;
Completing a site survey for both communities;
Assist in designing community development plans and a timeline for implementation;
Identifying and attracting the key strategic partners who can add-value, impact, and action to the communities’ goals;
Help in develop, manage, and negotiate RFP’s and the selection process;
Overseeing the initial implementation of sustainable community development initiatives;
Improving the monitoring and evaluation tools to show progress over time;
Provide coaching to the social business entrepreneurs;
Develop social business plans and model including financials
Identify and help build a constructive relationship with community members, local government, companies and other key actors in the area.
Support the school in participatory planning and to strategically manage the school’s social business investment;
Monitor progress and identify lessons to enhance YUNUS SOCIAL BUSINESS HAITI and partner school´s impact;
Assisting with other projects as may be needed for the success and well being of both communities.
A demonstrated commitment to serving society’s needs and a high level of personal integrity;
Extensive experience in at least one, or preferably several of the following:
o Project management
o Rural development and SME experience
o Fluency in English, French and Haitian Creole
o Degree in business, commerce, or a relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
o Minimum of 5-10 years work experience, preferable in conflict and/or post-conflict countries.
o Demonstrable experience in business development and strategic planning.
o Ability to work in isolated posts and difficult work environments.
o Excellent communication skills (written and oral) as well as networking skills.
o Understanding of civil-society, NGO, international agencies and bodies in Haiti and other countries.
o A high level of passion, entrepreneurial energy, personal initiative and responsibility;
o An excellent understanding of “social business” and how this is related to other concepts, e.g. social innovation, social entrepreneurship, inclusive business, impact investing
o Numeracy, critical thinking, evidence-based analysis, efficiency and thoroughness, demonstrated by excellent academic qualifications;
o Strong cultural understanding and skills to manage differences;
o Diplomacy, negotiating skills and team-working skills;
o Willingness to live and travel in rural areas of Haiti
