Early Warning Specialist at World Vision

Job Description:

a) Coordination of the Community Early Warning System activities in all MYAP areas

• Production of monthly CEWS bulletins
• Provide training and guidance to field staff on all issues related to CEWS.
• Take a leading role in the development of CEWS data collection tools.
• Follow up on the submission of CEWS data.
• Undertake validation of CEWS data with WV staff and partners ensuring strict adherence to required procedures and methodology.
• Coordinate the activities of the regional Obsevatoire de securite alimentaire in Plateau Centrale.
• Participate in regular meetings and training on CEWS and facilitate collaboration with partners, USAID and government in the implementation of the CEWS.
• Preparation and maintenance of an inventory of all equipment and materials purchased for the CEWS.

b) Capacity building of staff in M&E and CEWS
• Provide required training to staff in CEWS and M&E
• Participate in the collection of best practices for preparation of a best practices DVD.
c) Mapping of WVI activities and vulnerability status
• Collection of coordinates for all MYAP Activities
• Preparation of Maps for all MYAP distribution points and implementation sites;
• Maintain a database of information on food security and nutrition for targeting and programming purposes;
• Preparation of vulnerability maps and reports on the food security situation in MYAP areas.
d) Build community capacity and participation in early warning and food security monitoring

e) Any other duty as requested by the Supervisor, MYAP director or the National Director.

Expected outputs
• Timely production of high quality bulletins:
• Early warning data is submitted timely;
• Coordinates and maps of World vision areas of interventions
• Functioning data validation structures in the regions
• Training and support provided to staff engaged in Early Warning;

Job Qualifications:

1. The successful must be motivated and have interest in issues related to Monitoring and Early Warning systems.
2. Results oriented and able to meet deadlines.
3. Must have a University degree preferably masters degree in Agriculture/food security/statistics/economics or any other related degrees.
4.
5. Must be computer literate. Knowledge of mapping, database or data analysis packages will be an added advantage.

6. Must have experience and knowledge in Geographic information Systems (GIS)

7. Experience in supervising and supporting data collection staff

8. Bilingual (French and English), Spanish is desirable
